Program Overview

Criminology is the study of crime and is an interdisciplinary field in behavioural and social sciences and is studied in order to help the law. The role of Sociologists, Psychologists, Philosophers, Psychiatrists and Social Anthropologist come into play. Criminology is derived from the Latin word crimen, which means ‘accusation’. In simple terms, Criminology is the study of law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Criminology is a branch of Sociology, however, it has been studied in one way or the other for thousands of years. Other than Sociologists, Forensic Scientists also play a major part in Criminology.

  • They also practice in various sectors viz  Forensic Science laboratory, Scientific Investigation, Court Functions, Criminal Psychology, Cyber Investigation, Penology, Victimology, Forensic Medicine, Police Administration, Security, and Vigilance, among other subjects.
